Preparation Checklist

School Layout and Activities

  • Where will the visit take place?

  • Is there a location for the dog to go outside if necessary?

  • Is there a quiet space for students to go if they want?

  • Are other activities taking place? sporting events, assemblies, fire drills, recess...

Once you've scheduled a visit by your therapy team, it's important to plan ahead.

Student Preparation

  • Do all students want to participate? If not, how will that be handled? (also allergies)

  • Are all students allowed to participate? If certain students have a history of aggressive behavior, it may not be a good idea for them to join.

  • What is the lesson plan?
